On 11 September 2026, ahead of the opening of Hlanganani at Galerie Ron Mandos, Zanele Muholi joined Gabi Ngcobo and Naomie Pieter for a panel discussion at Soho House Amsterdam.

The conversation brought together three distinct voices within contemporary art and cultural practice to reflect on the ideas surrounding Hlanganani, as well as the significance of Faces and Phases and its two decades of documenting Black LGBTQIA+ lives, histories and visibility.

The discussion created a space to consider photography, archiving, representation and community, while reflecting on the continued life of an archive that has grown alongside the people and stories it holds.

Hlanganani is on view at Galerie Ron Mandos in Amsterdam from 12 September to 1 November 2026.
