On 12 September 2026, Hlanganani opened at Galerie Ron Mandos in Amsterdam, bringing together new work by Zanele Muholi alongside works from their ongoing practice.

Presented in collaboration with the Muholi Art Institute, the exhibition brings together self-portraits, recent paintings and a new body of Faces and Phases portraits made in Amsterdam’s Black queer community. The opening also marked twenty years since Muholi began Faces and Phases in 2006, a project that has grown into an expansive living archive of Black LGBTQIA+ lives.

The afternoon brought people together in the gallery to experience the work, reconnect, and celebrate the exhibition's opening.

Hlanganani is on view at Galerie Ron Mandos until 1 November 2026.
