Amsterdam, Netherlands | 30 July 2026
As part of its coverage of WorldPride Amsterdam 2026, the Muholi Art Institute attended Senior Pride, a gathering dedicated to celebrating LGBTQIA+ elders whose courage, activism and resilience have shaped generations of queer communities around the world.
Held in Amsterdam, Senior Pride brought together community members, advocates and allies in a joyful celebration of visibility, belonging and intergenerational connection. Through music, conversation and shared experiences, the event honoured those who have spent decades fighting for equality while creating space for younger generations to reflect on the histories that continue to shape the present.
For the Muholi Art Institute, documenting Senior Pride is part of an ongoing commitment to preserving queer histories and amplifying stories that are often overlooked. Events such as these remind us that Pride is not only a celebration, but also an opportunity to honour the people whose lives and activism laid the foundation for the freedoms many enjoy today.
These photographs, captured by Lizzy Muholi, offer a glimpse into an afternoon of joy, remembrance and community during WorldPride Amsterdam 2026.
